Common Questions

Where do you do your fishing charter trips leave from?

All trip leave from Port Clinton Marina, 33 Indian Drive, Clinton, CT 06413.

What should I bring with me?

You should dress for the weather and bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, food, beverage, and most importantly a camera!

Are food and liquor allowed?

You may bring food and drink (and I suggest it!!), but please no hard alcohol.

I heard that bananas on board, bring bad luck. Is this true?

YES! Please, PLEASE do not bring any bananas with you. It is an old superstition that they bring bad luck, and I have found it to be true!

Do I need any permits or license to fish?

No, passengers on a party or charter fishing vessel registered as such with CT DEEP and fishing in the marine district are exempt from the license requirement.

Are Life Jackets provided? And what safety measurements are on board?

Yes, the boat is equipped with type I life vests, along with two VHF Radios, Radar, and  all other coast guard required safety gear. We also have the latest GPS equipment on board which helps bring us to the biggest fish!

What do we do with the fish we catch?

You get to keep everything you catch. If you like, you can ask the captain to clean and bag your fish for you. Ice is available at the marina for you to keep your fish filets cold on your ride home.

Should we tip the captain?

While tipping is not mandatory, it is customary to tip and greatly appreciated. Remember, before you arrive, the captain catches bait, and cleans/prepares the boat for your group.  You get the full benefit of the captain’s fishing knowledge while on the boat and off. He will also clean and filet the fish you catch at the dock, which is usually done by the mate on other boats.

Do you offer any discounts?

Currently, in the 2022 season, we offer 10% off all charter trips to first responders, firefighters, police officers and veterans, when informed of your status at booking.
